I’m still smoke – free! You can be too. Here’s How I Quit Smoking Cigarettes!
Walmart has e cigarettes now. I wish I would have waited for them. I should have known that Walmart would get a good e cigarette when they finally got one. But I couldn’t wait.
I started smoking the e cigarette a couple of months ago and I really liked the concept. I had quit smoking for 2 years but started back up a couple of years ago. Basically I couldn’t find anything suitable to do with my hands and mouth and it was driving me crazy. (Please read my earlier posts for more details on the whole process that it took for me to finally quit smoking cigarettes after 40 years.) Anyway, I had already proven to myself that I could do without the nicotine (not to mention, the stink of cigarette smoke, bad breath, burning holes in my clothes, high blood pressure, tooth loss, etc.)
So this time I reviewed my quit smoking book, Allen Carr’s Easyway to Stop Smoking, and decided to quit again. You really have to want to quit smoking cigarettes or nothing is going to work – there’s no magic bullet that I know of – except maybe finding out that you have cancer. It’s amazing how many people I’ve talked to who know someone that quit after finding out that they had cancer. They said they couldn’t quit for years and years… it was just too hard… but find out that they’ve got cancer and blam… they can quit that day… cold turkey… no problem… just don’t let me die… a lot of people learn how to pray real quick too.
Anyway, short of cancer, there’s no magic bullet that I know of… you have to want to quit. If you are not sure that you want to quit, read Allen Carr’s Easyway to Stop Smoking. It is a very simple book that helps you realize that you don’t really want to smoke even if you are sure that you really love to smoke. All my life, I told people that I really enjoyed smoking and that I didn’t want to quit. Allen Carr’s book really helped me to realize that I didn’t really like to smoke after all; at least not “real” cigarettes. For example, I like to eat chocolate. I liked the very first chocolate bar I ever ate. I didn’t have to learn how to like it. I choked and gagged on the first cigarette that I ever smoked. But I was determined to smoke because 40 years ago, it was really cool to smoke. It’s not cool anymore!
OK, I got off track again (as usual). I keep thinking I’m going to trim this quit smoking thing down to the bare essentials, but here I go again… maybe next time. Anyway, I’ll try to keep to the point now.
After deciding to quit again, I tried a disposable e cigarette for $10 from the local convenience store that I trusted to have a good product. The “Blu-Cig” e cigarette was certainly fancy. I liked it right away. It tasted better than my real cigarettes which had started tasting like crap to me lately. It was supposed to be equal to a pack and a half of real cigarettes and it lasted about a half a day. I hoped that the rechargeable ones would last longer, so I got a starter kit for around $70 bucks. The starter kit came with 2 rechargable batteries, 5 flavor cartridges (they call them cartomizers), a portable recharger pack that you carry with you (which is cool), a usb charger and an ac power cord that fits either the usb or the portable recharger pack. Refills are about $3 a piece at the local store and $2 each if you by them 20 at a time online. I loved it except for the fact that the batteries keep needing recharging all the time. It’s been sitting on the shelf for a while now. The next one I tried was the “Ecigbrand” ecigarette. They had an offer online for a free trial offer. It was better because the battery was bigger and lasted longer but it still wasn’t great. The cartomizers didn’t last very long and they were twice as expensive as the Blu-Cig cartomizers so I cancelled my trial which they were fine with after talking to them on the phone for about 30 minutes.
Finally I saw the “Mistic” e cigarettes at Walmart and I picked up a brochure. Instead of a disposable cigarette for you to use and throw away for $10, Mistic has a starter pack for only $8 buck that has 1 cartomizer and 1 rechargeable battery. Brilliant!!! If you don’t like it you can still throw it away but if you do like it you can then buy the next starter kit up for around $17 that has 2 cartomizers, one rechargeable battery and a usb charger. So now you have 2 batteries and a charger for less than $25. The refills are still around $3 each but they really are equal to a pack of cigarettes. I’ve had a Mistic cartomizer last for more than 2 days and I really like to puff alot. These are by far the best e cigarettes I have tried. I have no desire for a real cigarette at all anymore. I really prefer my e cigarette. It tastes better and I don’t have to go out into the cold or the rain to smoke. I can even smoke in bed. Don’t try that with a real cigarette. Best of all, I don’t smell like cigarette smoke anymore.
BTW I’m not getting any compensation for this recommendation. I tried to figure out how to make some money with this but they don’t seem to have any affiliate program as such. All they offer on their website is a dealership. I do wish I could order large quantities of cartomizers for a discount. If anybody finds out any information on this, please let me know. Anyway, I am not being compensated in anyway. This is just my honest evaluation.I probably will put a “donation button” on here if you would like to contribute to my cause. Thanks.
I hope this helps you if you are serious about quitting smoking. You can do it if you really want to. I wish you luck. And remember, if at first you don’t succeed… try, try again. This is my second time and if I don’t succeed this time, you can bet I will keep on trying. But I can’t imagine starting back up again. Why would I? I found something that completely replaces my smoking habit this time. I don’t even feel like it is a sacrifice now that I found a good battery and a refill pack that will last for a least a day. I can smoke my e cig whenever I want and it tastes better than a real cigarette.
Give them a try.
Thanks for reading and God bless you.
